On Rainy Days, the Proctor Farmers' Market throws a Rainy Day Raffle.
Kirin and her family were the winners of June 19, 2010 Wacky Weather raffle.
Thanks to Larche for the tomato basket, Accents by Nature for the flat of petunias, Prana for the organic pepper plant, Barry for the bags of Kettle Corn, Heavenly Honey for the honey, Mai Houa for the Sweet Pea flowers, and Peto Gardens for the lettuce.
We love all of our customers, fair-weather and otherwise, but we deeply appreciate the folks who come to market no matter what the weather. Your financial and energetic support is important on those days! You folks have enabled us to open early (March) and close late in the season.
On Raffle days, folks can come to the information booth and fill out a free raffle ticket with their name and phone number. At the end of market we'll pick a name and call you to come pick up your prize...a Proctor Farmers' Market bag filled (sometimes over-flowing) with goodies from our vendors.
It's been a little tricky figuring out what to consider a 'Rainy Day'. So here's what we've come up with: we have an official market weather-watcher. He makes the call on whether it's officially a 'Rainy Day' by 10:00 am. Then we'll have a sign out in the middle of market, near the market booth, letting folks know about the raffle. If we get more tech-savvy, we'll tweet on Twitter at 10:00 on questionable days to let folks know.
